D is for Dinosaur: Dinosaur Life Cycle- Day 1

Dinosaur Life Cycle

Somehow my photo of all the activities together was deleted so I just have the individual pictures of each activity. We ended up splitting this theme in to 2 days...we had a friend come over to play so we shortened our Tot School.

Here is what Mia's baby dino is looking like:

Sorting baby dinosaurs in to small, medium and large groups:
Alphabet Egg & Baby Dino Match:

Who has more babies hatch? We would take turns rolling the dice and placing that number of dinosaurs on the hatching egg. After both of us rolled we compared the dinosaurs and discovered who had more baby dinosaurs.

How many ways can you sort: This is a great activity to challenge little ones to think of different ways to sort the same objects...here is what Mia came up with:
Sort by COLOR:
Sort by WINGS and NO WINGS:
Sort by SPIKES on back and NO SPIKES:
Sort by HORNS (or tusks) on the face and NO HORNS:
Sort by Stands on 2 FEET or 4 FEET:
 Sort by TYPE of dinosaur:
 Making Dinosaur Eggs with Play-doh:

Dinosaur Life Sequence Cards: We also discussed death (skeletons/fossils) as a part of the life cycle. I mixed up the cards and had Amelia put them in order.

Making the Life Cycle: This activity took a LONG time complete but I was impressed at how dedicated and focused Mia was on finishing this project...even when I asked if we could finish it later because Evan had woken up from his nap =)
